The Public Information Office manages the comprehensive communications, media relations and public information functions for Pitt County. Work involves executing dynamic communication strategies to keep the public, media and County employees informed of priorities, programs, initiatives and accomplishments, while encouraging transparency and public participation in County government.
The Director of Public Information and Media Relations is the County's official spokesperson and manager of the County's brand, ensuring consistent and correct use. Questions about the brand and use of the County's logos should be made to the Director. The Director is responsible for the County's Web Accessibility compliance on its digital platforms. The Public Information Office actively promotes government programs and services and publicizes and releases news and information to the public. The Office uses multi-channel, traditional and digital communications, to ensure digital equity access. The Public Information Office is responsible for print and digital communications, the Government Access Channel (PittTV), multimedia productions, broadcast/livestreams of public board meetings, County social media platforms and its internet and intranet websites.
The "Stay Connected" ad is published in The Daily Reflector newspaper before a meeting of the Board of County Commissioners. The advertisement includes public meeting and hearing notices, televised meeting schedules, boards and commission vacancies, career opportunities and public service announcements. View live or on-demand meetings and programs at your convenience. The Pitt County Board of Commissioners typically meets on the 1st and 3rd Mondays at 6:00 p.m. Meetings are broadcast live on PittTV (Optimum TV Channel 13) and YouTube.
