Pitt County Hosts Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day
Free event to collect a variety of materials including paints, pesticides and more
Residents and business owners can drop off a variety of hazardous materials on December 6, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at and the Transfer Station during the 2025 Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day.
Accepted materials include motor oils, paint and varnish materials, pesticides and insecticides, batteries, automotive fluids, household cleaners and solvents, pool chemicals, gases, aerosols, fire extinguishers, fluorescent lightbulbs and more.
This free event hosted by Solid Waste & Recycling is for the safe and convenient disposal of hazardous materials for Pitt County property owners including the agricultural community.
“This event gives residents an easy and environmentally responsible way to get rid of items that shouldn’t go in the regular trash,” says John Demary, Director of Solid Waste and Recycling. “Proper disposal keeps harmful materials out of our landfills, protects our water supply and helps keep Pitt County clean and safe for everyone.”
The event is co-sponsored by NC Department of Agriculture & Consumer Services Pesticide Disposal Assistance Program (NCDA&CS-PDAP) and North Carolina Cooperative Extension.
