Tied Contests

During nonpartisan plurality elections, ties are determined by lot under
Review NCGS 163-292

Town of Fountain Board of Commissioners: Seven write-in candidates were tied, with one selected by lot. The selected name was Keith Allen Singell.
Candlewick Area Sanitary District Board: Three write-in candidates were tied, with two selected by lot. The selected names were Bernard Dixon and Rita Leggett.

Dates and Deadlines

Key voter dates and deadlines for the 2025 Municipal Election include:

July 7, 2025 (8:00 AM): Municipal candidate filing begins
July 18, 2025 (12:00 PM): Municipal candidate filing ends
October 3, 2025: Begin issuing absentee ballots to eligible voters who submitted a request
October 10, 2025 (5:00 PM): Voter registration deadline*
October 16, 2025 (8:00 AM): In-person Early Voting begins; same-day registration available
October 21, 2025 (5:00 PM): Absentee ballot request deadline*
November 1, 2025 (3:00 PM): In-person Early Voting ends
November 4, 2025 (6:30 AM–7:30 PM): Municipal Election Day
November 4, 2025 (7:30 PM): Absentee ballot return deadline*

*Deadlines differ for military and overseas citizens. For these voters, the date to register and request an absentee ballot is November 3, 2025 at 5:00 PM. The deadline to return an absentee ballot by mail is November 13, 2025 at 5:00 PM.
