Environmental Excellence Award Development

Celebrating Environmental Excellence in Development

Since 2004, Pitt County has recognized outstanding achievements in environmentally responsible development through the Environmental Excellence Award Program. This program honors developers who show exceptional care in installing and maintaining best management practices (BMPs) while conducting land-disturbing activities under the County’s Soil Erosion and Sedimentation Control Ordinance. Points are awarded based on how well a project preserves natural site features during design, uses effective BMPs, and maintains consistent compliance throughout construction.
