Pitt County Government Offices Open February 5
Government offices will open at 12:00 p.m.

Pitt County Government offices will open at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 5, 2026.
Pitt Area Transit System (PATS) will resume normal operating hours on February 5, weather permitting.
Solid Waste and Recycling opened all County convenience sites on Wednesday, February 3.

Schedule changes happening February 4

Pitt County Government offices, including Public Health clinical services, will be closed on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.
“I extend my appreciation and gratitude for the significant number of dedicated County employees who have continued to work throughout this challenging weather event. Due to the condition of secondary roads, continuing precipitation and cold temperature forecasted, and out of an abundance of caution for the safety of staff and those we serve, County offices will be closed tomorrow, says Janis Gallagher, County Manager.
Cultural Arts & Recreation programs/classes are cancelled for Wednesday, February 4.
Pitt Area Transit System (PATS) services will be limited on Wednesday, February 4.
Patients with clinic and PATS appointments will be contacted for rescheduling.
Solid Waste and Recycling staff will continue to clear convenience sites as conditions allow. An update on reopening will be released when known. The Transfer Station, located at 3025 Landfill Road, Greenville is open.
The Animal Services Advisory Board meeting scheduled for 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 4 at the Cultural Arts & Recreation Building located at 4561 County Home Road, Greenville has been cancelled.

Transfer station opens at 11:00 a.m.; convenience sites remain closed

Pitt County Solid Waste & Recycling updates the previous announcement that on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, the Transfer Station located at 3025 Landfill Road, Greenville will open at 11:00 a.m
Due to conditions of some secondary roads, all County convenience sites will remain closed. Crews will continue to clear the sites as conditions allow.

Pitt County Government Pitt County Government offices, including Public Health clinical services, will be closed on Tuesday, February 3, 2026.
Cultural Arts & Recreation facilities are closed, programs and classes are cancelled for February 3.
Pitt Area Transit System (PATS) is closed Monday, February 2 and Tuesday, February 3.
Patients with clinic and PATS appointments will be contacted for rescheduling.
Solid Waste and Recycling (Transfer Station and Convenience Sites) staff are working to clear the convenience sites. An update on reopening will be released when known.
The Board of Elections Absentee Meeting scheduled for 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 3 at the BOE conference room located at 1800 N Greene Street Greenville is cancelled.
Pitt County Government Declares State of Emergency/Closed Monday
Schedule changes due to forecasted winter weather
Updated January 30, 2026 at 3:00 p.m.
Pitt County Government will issue a declaration of state of emergency effective 5:00 p.m. on Friday, January 30, 2026 due to forecasted inclement weather. Emergency Management is prepared to open the Emergency Operations Center if needed. Government offices, including Public Health clinical services, will be closed on Monday, February 2, 2026.
The February 2 Capital Improvement Budget 3:00 p.m. meeting and the 6:00 p.m. regular meeting of the Board of County Commissioners is cancelled. A public meeting notice will be released when rescheduled.
Cultural Arts & Recreation will close all facilities on Saturday, January 31 and Monday, February 2.
Pitt Area Transit System (PATS) will operate normal hours on Saturday, January 31, weather permitting.
Pitt County Solid Waste and Recycling has updated their inclement weather notice for the Transfer Station located at 3025 Landfill Road, Greenville and all County convenience sites to be closed Saturday, January 31, Sunday, February 1 and Monday, February 2, 2026.
