ServSafe Food Protection Manager Course & Exam

ServSafe is a nationally recognized food safety training and certification program developed by the National Restaurant Association. The program provides food service managers and staff with the knowledge and skills needed to safely handle, prepare, and serve food, helping reduce the risk of foodborne illness and support public confidence in dining establishments.

All registration fees are approved by the Pitt County Board of Commissioners and are listed on the Environmental Health Fee Schedule. Fees include required course materials, exam administration, and official ServSafe certification issued upon successful completion.

Registration

  • Registration is available online or in person. Fees must be paid at the time of registration to reserve a seat.
    Call 252-902-3205 or visit the Environmental Health office to register and pay in person. Staff can assist with course dates, exam options, and registration questions.
  • Registrant information must include full name, phone number, and email address. This information is required to process certification and provide exam results.
  • Completed and paid registrations are forwarded to the ServSafe Program Coordinator for scheduling and exam setup.

Registration Deadlines

  • Instructional course: Registration must be completed at least one month before the scheduled class date.
  • Exam only: Registration must be completed at least two weeks before the scheduled exam date.

ServSafe Food Protection Manager certification is nationally recognized and valid for five years, helping food service managers meet regulatory requirements and support consistent food safety practices.
