Turning Settlement Funds Into Community Solutions
Under North Carolina’s Memorandum of Agreement, Pitt County will receive $17.9 million between 2022 and 2038. The City of Greenville will also receive funding during the same period. By combining resources, both communities aim to maximize the impact of every dollar and expand access to critical services.
This partnership will help:
- Expand access to treatment: Increase availability of evidence-based programs, including medication-assisted treatment.
- Strengthen recovery support: Provide housing, peer support, and employment services that sustain long-term recovery.
- Improve overdose response: Distribute naloxone (Narcan) and expand training to save lives during emergencies.
- Invest in prevention: Support early intervention programs and youth-focused education to address root causes before misuse begins.
Tracking Payments and Program Investments
Distribution of Pitt County’s settlement funds will follow a structured review committee and formal application process under Option A of the state agreement. This approach ensures funding supports programs aligned with 12 high-impact, evidence-based strategies, without requiring additional extensive planning.
