The Pitt County Public Information Office serves as a communications liaison between County staff, elected officials, the media and the public in order to facilitate the timely dissemination of information about programs, services, and activities. The Office also coordinates press coverage for all major functions of the County, and assists with the production of County advertising and informational materials. In addition to operating the County television channel PittTV (Suddenlink Cable channel 13), the Office also maintains the Pitt County Website and all official social media accounts.
The Office has a staff of three, and is led by Director of Public Information, Michael Scott Emory, who has served as Director since 2016. Emory has a background in television news and live event production, with a career focus on emergency response and crisis communication. He is a graduate of the Master Public Information Officer (MPIO) program through the Department of Homeland Security / FEMA, and is currently one of only 65 MPIO graduates in the Nation.
