"Hoops 4 Health" 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament Scheduled for April 12
Pitt County Health Department and organizations including East Carolina University’s (ECU) Basketball teams join together to plan a community event to focus on adolescent health and wellness.
“Hoops 4 Health” 3 On 3 Basketball Tournament will be held for Pitt County middle school students on Saturday, April 12, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Eppes Recreation Center, 400 Nash Street, Greenville, N.C.
Registration packets are located at each Pitt County middle school and at Eppes Recreation Center. Participants can also call 252-902-2330 to register. The tournament is free and open to any Pitt County middle school student. Coed teams are included.
The inaugural event, held in 2014 to promote continuous physical activity among youth, aligned with the “Let’s Move Initiative” to decrease childhood obesity. The initiative encouraged communities to provide fun and affordable sports and fitness programs, which is also the goal of “Hoops 4 Health”. In addition to the basketball tournament, there will be vendors with health-related information. Students who visit the vendors, will be entered into a drawing to win door prizes.
A highlight of the 2025 “Hoops 4 Health” is participation by ECU’s Basketball teams. Students will have the opportunity to interact with players serving in various roles throughout the event.
The event will close with a 3-Point Contest and trophies and ribbons presentation. Lunch will be provided to participants.
