Department of Social Services to Hold Awareness Events During April
Pitt County Department of Social Services (DSS) along with Prevent Child Abuse North Carolina (PCANC) recognizes the importance of caring connections, supportive environments and positive experiences for all children and families during National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
This year’s theme, “Powered by Hope, Strengthened by Prevention,” is a reminder that stronger families create healthier communities — support and empowerment are the keys to making that vision a reality.
“Pitt County and our network of social workers encourage community members to raise awareness by participating in these events and seek support on the behalf of any family in need,” says Janis Gallagher, County Manager.
Wear Blue Day was held on Friday, April 4, 2025. Staff showed support by wearing blue and sharing photos on social media using #WearBlueDay2025 and #PCANC.
Lighting of the Greene Street Bridge in Blue will happen April 8-9, 2025, Greenville Town Commons.
