Gary Weaver Named County Commissioner in Pitt County, NC
New appointment for District 6 effective September 15
The Pitt County Board of Commissioners appointed Gary Weaver as the District 6 County Commissioner during the Monday, September 15, 2025 board meeting. He succeeds Lauren White whose resignation was accepted earlier this month.
“It is a privilege to welcome Mr. Weaver to the Board,” says Benji Holloman, Chair, Board of County Commissioners. “His service and dedication to our community will be a tremendous asset as we continue to address the needs of our residents and advance the future of Pitt County.”
The Oath of Office was administered following the vote on September 15 and the term will expire in December 2026.
Of the appointment, Weaver states, “I look forward to serving the constituents of District 6 and, along with my fellow Commissioners, believe in our shared goal of the betterment of all Pitt County residents. My focus will be on addressing present challenges and helping pave the way for sustained growth and future opportunities.”
Weaver retired from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol after 30 years of service and continues public service in Pitt County through volunteering and various board appointments including Pitt-Greenville Crime Stoppers and Simpson Rural Fire Department.
Pitt County Election District 6 spans southeastern Pitt County, includes Grifton and nearby rural communities and runs along NC 118 and NC 102.
