Be a Hero for a Day: Take a Shelter Dog on a Field Trip
Looking for a fun, meaningful way to brighten your day—and a dog’s? Join the Pitt County Animal Services Doggy Day Out program and treat a shelter dog to an exciting adventure outside the kennel. Whether you have a few hours in the morning or afternoon, your time can make a big difference in a dog’s life—and yours!
How It Works
- Quick & Easy Sign-Up: Fill out a simple form to get started. No long-term commitment required!
- Pick Up Your Pup: Arrive between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. to meet your furry companion for the day.
- Choose Your Adventure: Enjoy a walk in the park, a cozy coffee shop visit, or just a relaxing ride—whatever fits your schedule and the dog’s needs.
- Return: Bring your new friend back to the shelter between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., refreshed and happy.
Why It Matters
- Reduce Stress: Field trips give shelter dogs a break from the kennel, lowering their anxiety and boosting their well-being.
- Improve Behavior: Exercise, fresh air, and social interaction help dogs show off their best personalities, making them more adoptable.
- Support Successful Adoptions: Outings give staff valuable insight into each dog’s behavior in real-world settings, helping match them with the perfect forever home.
Bonus: You’ll get to enjoy companionship, fresh air, and lots of tail wags—plus capture some adorable photos to share with family and friends!
Whether you’re a dog lover, looking for a fun family activity, or simply want to make a difference in your community, Doggy Day Out is the perfect way to lend a hand (and a leash).
