Pitt County Hosts Community Development Informational Sessions
PITT COUNTY, N.C. – The Pitt County Planning Department will host its Annual Housing Rehabilitation Informational Sessions on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. at the Pitt County Agricultural Center, located at 403 Government Circle, Greenville, NC.
These sessions provide vital information to homeowners outside of the City of Greenville who are seeking assistance with necessary home repairs through various housing grant programs administered by Pitt County. During each session, Planning staff will review various program eligibility guidelines, explain the application process, and answer questions from attendees.
“To support safe and healthy housing for all our residents, it’s critical that we connect eligible homeowners with the available resources,” says Janis Gallagher, Pitt County Manager. “Home rehabilitation support not only strengthens individual households but helps preserve the long-term integrity of our communities.”
To qualify for assistance, applicants must:
- Attend a mandatory informational session
- Reside in Pitt County, excluding the city limits of Greenville
- Own and occupy the home in need of repair; no inherited property or life estates allowed
- Current on all mortgages and taxes
- Have a household income not exceeding 80% of the County median income, adjusted for
household size
- Have a special need, defined as:
- Age 62 or older
- A person with a handicap or disability
- A single parent with a dependent child at home
- A Veteran
- A large family (more than five household members)
- A household with a child under age six and lead hazards in the home
“These annual informational sessions are our gateway to helping residents access life-changing assistance,” says Jonas Hill, Pitt County Planning Director. “We encourage homeowners who may be eligible to attend, ask questions and begin the process of restoring their homes.”
Attendance at one of the sessions is required to receive an application and to be considered for grant assistance.
