Annual Existing Industry Reception to be held October 9
In celebration of National Manufacturing Week and National Manufacturing Day, the Pitt County Commissioners signed a proclamation at their September 15, 2025 board meeting recognizing Friday, October 3 as National Manufacturing Day and October 3–10, 2025 as National Manufacturing Week.
“The proclamation reaffirms the County’s support for local manufacturers, recognizing them as key drivers of employment, innovation and economic growth,” says Janis Gallagher, Pitt County Manager.
Manufacturers in Pitt County employ roughly 7,000 employees at an average wage of $78,781, one of the highest in Pitt County’s industries. More than 100 manufacturing companies call Pitt County home, and in 2024 helped produce $2.1 billion in Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Recent announcements such as Boviet Solar technology and Nipro medical corporation will bring more than 1,500 new jobs to the region. These companies and their employees showcase the strong industry support found in Pitt County, with many employees being graduates of customized training programs available at both Pitt Community College and East Carolina University.
As part of Manufacturing Week, Pitt County Economic Development will host its 31st Annual Existing Industry Reception on Thursday, October 9, 2025 at the Hilton Greenville. This event celebrates and thanks local industry partners for their continued contributions to the County’s economy. The reception brings together business leaders, community partners and elected officials to recognize the impact of manufacturers and foster ongoing collaboration.
