Pitt County Animal Services to Begin “Sweetheart Foster Weekend”
Foster program sends animals to loving homes for Valentine’s Day
PITT COUNTY, N.C. – Pitt County Animal Services (PCAS) announces its holiday foster program “Sweetheart Foster Weekend” will begin Friday, February 13, 2026. The program is a short term foster opportunity designed to get dogs, cats, kittens and puppies out of the shelter and into a home during the holiday.
PCAS will supply food, bowls, toys and blankets for all foster pets. Foster dogs and puppies will come with a leash and crate while cats and kittens will have a collar and carrier. Animal Services provides the supplies free of charge.
“‘Sweetheart Foster Weekend’ is a great opportunity for anyone curious about fostering but not ready for a long-term commitment. The holiday is about celebrating love and we invite residents to open their homes and offer animals a cozy place to spend the weekend,” says Kimberly Mitchell, Director of Animal Services.
As of Friday, January 30, there are 71 dogs and puppies and 25 cats and kittens at the Animal Shelter located at 4550 County Home Road, Greenville.
