The Pitt County Health Department offers free childbirth education classes for expectant parents who live in Pitt County and receive Medicaid or WIC maternity care services. These classes help prepare you and your support person for a safe and confident birth experience.

What You’ll Learn

  • Pregnancy changes and warning signs
  • Labor stages, positions, and comfort techniques
  • Medications and medical interventions
  • Creating a birth plan
  • Postpartum care and recovery
  • Tour of ECU Health’s Labor and Delivery unit

Program Details

  • Offered during the second half of pregnancy
  • Includes up to 10 hours of instruction
  • Meets NC Medicaid education standards
