Transportation Assistance Programs

Pitt County offers transportation programs to help residents get to medical appointments, pharmacies, nutrition sites, and other community services. These services are available for older adults, people with disabilities, and residents who do not have other transportation options.

The programs below explain who is eligible and how to request service. Pitt Area Transit System (PATS) serves residents who live outside the Greenville GREAT bus service area. PATS also provides paratransit service to eligible riders within the GREAT service area.

To use Pitt Area Transit System (PATS) services, riders must complete the required eligibility form below. After submitting the form, applicants can expect a response within two business days.

Stay Independent with County Transportation

Elderly and Disabled Transportation Assistance: This program provides operating assistance to help cover transportation needs for elderly and disabled residents.

Council on Aging

The Pitt County Council on Aging provides transportation assistance for clients age 60 and older who are not receiving Medicaid. Services include rides to doctor appointments and pharmacy visits (for prescription pickups only), as well as transportation to Council on Aging nutrition sites and special events. If you are a Medicaid recipient, you may qualify for additional transportation services. Contact your Medicaid case worker.
