Candidate Filing Now Underway for Municipal Elections in Pitt County
2025 filing deadline is noon on July 18
PITT COUNTY, N.C. – The Pitt County Board of Elections (BOE) announces that candidate filing for the 2025 Municipal Election opened on Monday, July 7, 2025. Individuals interested in running for elected municipal office must file their notice of candidacy by 12:00 p.m. on Friday, July 18, 2025.
A current list of candidates who have officially filed in Pitt County is available at PittCountyNC.gov/Candidates. The list is updated regularly and will reflect filings as paperwork is processed by the Elections Office.
“Candidates are encouraged to file early and ensure all documentation is complete and accurate. Filing takes place at the Pitt County Board of Elections Office,” says Dave Davis, Director, Pitt County Elections.
Pitt County BOE is located at 1800 N Greene Street, Greenville, N.C. and regular business hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Dates and Deadlines
July 7, 2025 (8:00 AM): Municipal candidate filing begins
July 18, 2025 (12:00 PM): Municipal candidate filing ends
October 3, 2025: Begin issuing absentee ballots to eligible voters who submitted an absentee ballot request form
October 10, 2025 (5:00 PM): Voter registration deadline*
October 16, 2025 (8:00 AM): In-person Early Voting begins; same-day registration available
October 21, 2025 (5:00 PM): Absentee ballot request deadline*
November 1, 2025 (3:00 PM): In-person Early Voting ends
November 4, 2025 (6:30 AM to 7:30 PM): Municipal Election Day
November 4, 2025 (7:30 PM): Absentee ballot return deadline*
*Voter registration and absentee voting deadlines are different for military and overseas citizen voters. The date to register and request an absentee ballot is November 3, 2025 at 5:00 p.m. The date to return an absentee ballot by mail is November 13, 2025 at 5:00 p.m.
