Earth Day – A Perfect Reminder to Rethink Waste and Make Sustainable Choices!
Celebrate Earth Day on April 22 by taking action for a greener future! Instead of discarding broken or unused items, consider these eco-friendly alternatives.
- Repair & Repurpose
Before throwing something away, consider giving it a second life by repairing what’s broken. Whether it’s a torn shirt, a wobbly chair, or a malfunctioning gadget, fixing it saves money and reduces waste. Or, get creative! Turn old T-shirts into cleaning rags, upcycle jars into storage containers, or refresh furniture with a new coat of paint. - Donate
One person’s clutter is another’s treasure! Donate gently used clothing, furniture, and electronics to local charities, shelters, or thrift stores to give them a second life. - Go Further with PITTcycle
Pitt County’s PITTcycle program gives salvaged treasures a second chance! Every Friday at noon,
reusable and upcyclable items from the Pitt County Transfer Station are posted on the Pitt County Solid Waste & Recycling Facebook — free for the taking.
Claim an item, repurpose it, and help keep usable materials out of the landfill.
