Pitt County Board of Elections Testing New Voting Machines
The Pitt County Board of Elections will conduct a simulated election at 10:00 AM on Thursday, May 29. The test will be conducted with the assistance of PrintElect staff in our annex site that is in the rear of the Technology Enterprise Center (1800 North Greene Street, Greenville, NC 27834). It is estimated the event will last 2-3 hours and is open to the public.
A simulated election is required when a county seeks to purchase a new voting system. The Pitt County Board of Elections is seeking to upgrade our system from Unity to ES&S EVS 6.3.0.0. The reason is that the Unity software is not compatible with Windows 10, which is requiring us to upgrade. The voting tabulator, ES&S DS200, will not be changing; we can continue to use our existing machines. We are also planning to upgrade our ballot marking devices (BMD) that are required for ADA compliance. We currently utilize the ES&S AutoMark and plan to exchange those for the ES&S ExpressVote. ExpressVote machines will be included in the simulated election.
