Helping Safeguard Our Community Health
Playing a vital role in protecting public health, Environmental Health helps prevent illness, reduce environmental risks, and promote safe, healthy spaces across the community. Through education, inspections, and enforcement of health rules, these programs help make sure the places where people live, eat, learn, and gather meet safety standards. This work includes inspecting food service and lodging facilities, overseeing private wells and on-site wastewater systems, and supporting healthy environments in childcare centers, schools, and other public spaces.
Supporting and Protecting Public Health
These services are delivered locally by county health departments, including Pitt County, and follow state guidelines.
