Appointed by the Board of County Commissioners in accordance with NCGS 153A-111, the Clerk to the Board provides essential administrative and legislative support to ensure the effective operation of county government. The Clerk manages official Board processes, including preparing agendas and minutes, recording and attesting to Board actions, issuing public notices as required by the Open Meetings Law, and maintaining permanent records. Through these responsibilities, the Clerk safeguards the integrity of the Board’s official proceedings and ensures long-term public access to government records..

    The County Clerk to the Board serves as the central point of coordination for the Board of Commissioners and the public. In addition to organizing meetings and preserving official records, the Clerk assists residents, staff, and elected officials with information requests, public notices, and documentation related to Board actions. This role helps ensure meetings run smoothly, records remain accurate and accessible, and the community can stay informed and engaged in local government.
